SWCS-NCC Chapter Officers Meeting

Fall Tour
Plans for the Fall Tour on September 21 are coming together well. Ross Braun is working with the ARS Folks who will plan and guide our tour of the Beltsville Agricultural Research Center (BARC). The tour is co-hosted by SWCS-NCC and ARS. ARS will identify sites and scientist to address our theme of cutting technology at this 7,000 acre research farm. Dr. Jeffrey Steiner, ARS National Program Leader for Integrated Ag Systems will be the lunch speaker. The topic will be on cutting edge research related to soil and water. We plan to recognize the recipient of the Norman A Berg-Conservation Legacy Award along with lunch and program at the Log Cabin.The tour will start (9:00) and end (3:00) at the Carver Center. The tour will continue in the afternoon at the National Plant Materials Center. Ross will make arrangements with "Spartin Tours" for a 49 passenger bus at $525. With the cost of transportation and lunch the price person was set at $25/person.
Ross will ask ARS to complete the tour design August 4th so we can complete registration information and distribute about August 10. Bill Boyer will draft a "Mark Your Calendar" announcement for SWCS member and plan to distribute by tomorrow, 7-7-06. The registration deadline was set for September 15. Ross and Bill will donate and arrange for drinks for the tour and lunch. Mike Hubbs will work with Jeffery Steiner to gather more biography and presentation information.
Berg Award
Two nominations for the Norman A. Berg-Conservation Legacy award have been submitted via the website. They are Robert Johansson and Neil Sampson. Gayle will review the nominations and make recommendation at the next officers meeting, where a final selection will be made.National Meeting
Attending the national meeting this year from NCC are Ross Braun, Bill Boyer, Jon Vrana, and Carroll Jett. Ross is the official Chapter Delegate. The Delegate's session is Sunday morning. Bill will participate in the Business Tools Workshop and Ross and Bill will participate in the Fellows Forum, which they have help plan. A good turnout is expected for the Forum.Website
