New Officers: Chip welcomed new Officers George Utting, Allison Wiedeman (both with EPA, Water Permits Division), and Tom Hebert with the firm of C&M Capitolink.

Chapter Core Activity Report 2006: Chip presented this for review. It was discussed and will be submitted to the National office in Ankeny. Larry confirmed that we are listed with the Ankeny office for non-profit status and covered by their 501(c)(3) status. Ross asked that we confirm our proper legal status, a question in the report; Bill and Larry will follow up on this.

Financial Report, 2006: Larry presented the Treasurer's Report, that covers the period January 1, 2006 through December 21, 2006. Savings increased by $3214.59, the majority of which is due to the disbursement of Science Day funds. Total assets equal $13,763.76.

Outstanding Chapter Award 2006: Ross presented the documentation for this submission to Ankeny. Several people asked to review it and will forward comments to Chip by COB Friday 1/12/06.

SWCS Speakers Series: Tom presented the idea of creating a series of speaking events to take advantage of some of the interesting and knowledgeable people that work in DC or visit here from time to time. Tom would like to use the facilities at the American Farm Bureau Federation (AFBF) offices. He will check with AFBF and get back to the Board with more ideas.

Northeast Regional Conference: This conference will be held April 24 & 25, Tuesday and Wednesday, in Lancaster, PA. Chip will continue to get the word out to members and facilitate car/van pooling from DC.

Cooperative Ventures: Beth discussed a potential joint scholarship Don Parrish, American Farm Bureau Federation. Beth and Bill has been in contact with the outgoing and new President of the Society of American Foresters-National Capital Chapter. They are interested in joint activities and scholarships, and they may attend our next meeting. Chip will continue work on these opportunities. Allison suggested we coordinate with the Envirothon of Washington, DC. This will take more investigation.

The Board meets the first Thursday of each month from 11:45-12:45. The location will cycle among the organizations represented in the Board and be announced prior to each meeting.
